Jekel® French Shearlings

About Jekel Shearlings

Founded in 1947 by Jacques Jekel in the heart of Paris, Jekel® is renowned as a creator of high end fashion shearlings.

Jacques Jekel made shearling an accepted part of “prêt à porter” and by the 1980’s Jekel became suppliers to upscale fashion houses and department stores such as Yves St. Laurent, Sonia Rykel, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman-Marcus Harrods, etc.

Today’s collection at Canadian Fur Company features 4 of the more higher fashion, better accepted styles produced under the direction of Elizabeth de Beauchamp along with Laurent Baraloas, renowned Modelist for Dior and Michel Klein, and Annie Gimet, ex-premiere Atelier Chezreviuon and Channell.

In addition to fashion, quality treated materials and superb craftsmanship together yield an impeccable garment that the sophisticated European consumer has grown to expect and love.

Jacques Jekel developed a process that gave the shearling hides an increased suppleness and a resistance to wet weather.  Hide matching is done under natural light and all garments are closed edge to edge avoiding that awkward bulk when worn open in milder weather yet overlap just right when closed for warmth in chilly weather.

Canadian Fur Company is exclusive with Jekel in the Pittsburgh area this fall 2007 and Canadian Fur Company is also looking to build a much larger relationship with Jekel®.  As a result, Canadian Fur Company is introducing Jekel® styles at a very attractive $1,200 to $1,650 retail price.
